Hello, Friends of Jubilee Consortium! Our one celebration has now become two. The first event will be an Online Anniversary Reunion and Fundraiser on Saturday, February 19th, from 3:00 to 4:15 pm PST. Jubilee Consortium is 20 years old this year and Jubilee Year Los Angeles, formerly known as the Episcopal Urban Intern Program, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. February 19th will be a time online for us to gather, share some stories and testimonies about Jubilee and JYLA, and encourage one another to generously give a financial contribution to ensure that the work of Jubilee and JYLA continues strong and long into the future.
We are even setting aside some time during the event for JYLA alumni (as well as friends, supporters, former staff) to join a virtual “Reunion Room” where they can greet and catch up others from their own or surrounding program years. We hope that this will give folks an opportunity to say hello to friends they haven’t seen for a while, to make some new ones, and to see how many lives JYLA has positively impacted. We hope you still have February 19th marked on your calendar and we very much look forward to seeing you there.
The second event will happen in the spring and will be both an in-person and live-streamed event. The logistical details are still to come but at this event, we will celebrate two Jubilee Giants - Joanne Leslie and Gary Commins. We hope you plan to join us for both events.
For 20 years, Jubilee Consortium has positively impacted tens of thousands of people in underserved neighborhoods around L.A. County through its group fitness, dance, nutrition, and healthy cooking classes; group fitness instructor certification programs; youth jump rope league, Jubilee Jump; and the Jubilee Design Collaborative, which provides big and affordable media options for small nonprofits and churches. For 30 years, JYLA has also touched tens of thousands of lives around Los Angeles through partnerships with over 50 community-minded organizations, and by providing a personally and professionally transformative service year to over 225 young adults who are inspired to change the world. Through service, activism, interfaith engagement, and advocacy, JYLA has been part of a powerful movement for justice in L.A.
